If you are going to get a new car anyway, you should get a hybrid. I’m not saying everybody should leave their existing cars at the junk yard and head to the dealership to by a hybrid, but if you need a new set of wheels anyway, here are a few things to keep in mind.

It’s the right thing to do!

Help create the demand for more environmentally efficient vehicles. The more we buy, the more they supply (and drop the price for the next buyer) – just think of the possibilities. Just maybe, by 2020 all cars will be hybrid.

Save money on gas.

If you haven’t noticed the record breaking prices at the gas pump this summer, you will soon. If you have to buy gas (which most American’s do on a regular basis), doesn’t it just seem like common sense to buy a little? Hybrids are well known for their outstanding gas mileage.

No more smog checks.

In many states, emission checks are standard as part of the vehicle registration process. Drivers are required to get an inspection by a certified Smog Check Station. As if waiting in line at the DMV wasn’t bad enough! Hybrid cars are exempt from smog check requirements in most states because reduce smog-seeding pollutants by up to 90 percent and carbon dioxide emissions by 50 percent!

Ride solo in the car pool lane.

These HOV Stickers are issued to the hybrid vehicle – not the driver, and they stay with the car no matter how many owners it has. Great news if you’re buying used!

It’s a tax write off.

Most states offer tax incentives in the form of credits. Every little bit helps, right?

Save in other ways.

Los Angeles-based IntelliChoice, that found that all 22 hybrid vehicles on the market will have a lower total cost of ownership than their conventional counterparts over a five year/70,000 mile period.

Bells and whistles.

Hybrids are at the forefront of technology, so they have been designed with the latest developments. This translates to not only a reduction in emissions, but also incorporates all the latest safety and comfort devices.

The coolness factor.

You will be envied for doing your part to help the environment, save money and look cool while doing it.

Many experts continue to comment, most hybrid drivers are not simply looking for an investment return on a hybrid car. They are all about the “big” picture. They are concerned with helping the environment. It’s even been reported that hybrid car owners don’t even consider another vehicle. Once they decide to go hybrid, there is no other option for them. It isn’t about comparing a gasoline-powered vehicle to a hybrid car. It’s about comparing one hybrid against another. – dmv.org

It’s the right thing to do.

Okay, this point is in here twice, but it is extra important! If you are trying to go green, or live a more environmentally conscious buying a hybrid car is one of the biggest contributions you as an individual can make.
